“Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”

‘Life of Brian’ was written by and stars the Monty Python comedy group – John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Graham Chapman as ‘Brian’. It is a satirical film that pokes fun at certain aspects of religion. It was made in 1979 and financed through HandMade Films by George Harrison from The Beatles.

It contains the following piece of movie wisdom at the end of the film:

Always look on the bright side of life.

This movie wisdom is delivered through the chorus of a song. The song uses variations of the chorus, that use “light side of life”, “right side of life”, “bright side of life”, and “bright side of death”.

If you watch a lot of national and international news then your country and the world can seem like a terrible place. Sometimes it can feel that the country or the world are falling apart. It is important to remember that it is not good news that sells, it is disaster and tragedy that keeps the readership in a perpetual state of shock. One of the few newspapers that reports otherwise is the The Happy Newspaper:

In his review of the book ‘Factfulness’ by Hans Rosling, Bill Gates encourages us to look past news headlines and towards the overall progress of humanity. This progress includes medicine that improves global health, technology that improves our lives, and extreme poverty has reduced around the globe. In order words, not only are things not that bad, they are actually improving.

As potential Buddhas we each have this amazing capacity to attain Enlightenment. Sure, each day meditation might be difficult and sometimes we don’t feel as though we are making any progress. But each day we move forward, even if we progress only 1mm it is still progress towards the goal of Enlightenment it is still progress.

HH Dalai Lama has said “Choose to be optimistic, it feels better”. We would really like you to be happy each day and happy as you progress on the path. we would really like you to feel optimistic about the future for yourself and the world.

Love, @happyops
